Das Schneiden von Linien in Holz erfordert Kraft! So habe ich heute einen Muskelkater in den Schultern.
Für die Erklärungen zur Reduktionsmethode im Holzschnitt in meinem neuen Buch brauchte ich Fotos von einem unkomplizierteren Holzschnitt und so beschloss ich eine Blume mit wenig Linien und Flächen zu schneiden.
Für die drei Farben habe ich nur eine Platte benutzt. So sind die vier farbig gezeigten Drucke der Blume die einzigen, die es von dieser Auflage gibt. Die geschnittenen Zwischenstände werden immer wieder in anderen Farben gedruckt und nach dem Druck wird an derselben Platte weiter geschnitten.
Das Spanplattenholz aus dem Künstlerbedarf ist nicht meine Welt, sie hat eine weiche Schicht, die gerne abplatzt beim Schneiden. Ich mag die Hölzer, die ich beim Tischler kaufe, lieber. Schon die Atmosphäre, wenn ich in den Holzabschnitten wühle und die Sägen im Hintergrund höre, hat für mich etwas besonders.
Dafür habe ich neben der Spanplatte eine Tube Karminrot aus dem Künstlerbedarf mitgebracht. Das ist eine Farbe! Die pure Verheißung! Ich muss aufpassen, nicht zuviel davon zu benutzen und in rot zu schwelgen.

I have used only one plate for the three colors. Thus, the four colors (the white of the paper is a color, too) of the flower prints shown are the only ones that exist from that wood item. The cut standings will be printed again and again in different colors and I cut more after printing on the same plate.
The particleboard wood of the art grocery I used is not my world, it has a soft layer that peels off when I’am cutting. I like the woods, which I buy from the carpenter. Even the atmosphere in the carpenter, when I rummage through the wood sections and hear the saws in the background, has something special for me.
I’ve brought a tube next to the art grocery crimson red. This is a color! The pure promise!
I must be careful to use not too much of it and to revel in red.
